Gianni will succeed Joël Peinado, who left in June. After 24 years, the last seven of which were served as Head of School, Peinado has moved on to become president of International College in Beirut.
Gianni is a lifelong educator with more than three decades of experience with higher education and N-12 schools throughout the United States, France and Monaco. He is said to have unique qualifications for the position due to his leadership skills, his experience in both international and bilingual education and his warm and upbeat personality.
Previously, Gianni served as the director of the International School of Monaco. He guided the comprehensive and strategic planning processes by introducing enriching curricular programs involving mathematics and leadership.
Gianni was also successful in increasing the school’s enrollment to 650 students.
As an avid anti-bullying advocate, Gianni was featured in a Feb. 2017 TEDx Talk in Monaco titled “Anti-Bullying Starts at Home.”
FASNY has three different campuses in Westchester: a Larchmont campus for nursery through third-grade students and two Mamaroneck campuses; one for students in fourth grade through eighth grade and one for students in ninth grade through 12th grade. Gianni was appointed head of FASNY in Feb. 2019 following a comprehensive global search conducted over a seven-month period, school officials say.
“I come as a leader but also as a learner,” said Gianni following his appointment as FASNY’s Head of School. “In the coming months, I will take the time to meet with as many members of the school community as possible. Together, we will set objectives and strive to meet them to ensure that we continue to move forward as an institution.”
